              " Dedicated, Dependable, Determined"

On April 1,1984 charter was granted to 246 members of Local 455,Sheffield, Alabama to establish a new local in Birmingham, Alabama. The vision of those charter members still drives the heart and soul of our local as we know it today. Of those 246 members 25 are still working at the trade. Our “charter” brothers have gradually retired over the years or have passed on to work the “big job”, yet their spirit and work ethic push those remaining in the ranks to continually strive to meet the standards that they have laid for us.

Our jurisdiction covers 34 of Alabama’s 67 counties, or the entire central section of the state. From Marion County in the northwest eastward to Etowah County to upper Greene County in southwest eastward again in a zig-zag pattern through Lowndes before terminating at the Georgia Line in Lee County. Our main client is Alabama Power Company,we service 5 of their fossil fuel plants currently. We also work in the papermills in our jurisdiction, that we continue to fight the non-union sector over. USX-Fairfield is also under our jurisdiction.

Our members also “boom out” all over the country to help our brother locals when manpower gets tight. Over the years, Local 108, has built a reputation of being hard and seasoned Craftsmans who can get your job done. We worked hard to get this reputation and continue to work even harder to keep it.

Enjoy your visit to our website.
